Privacy Policy

Numero is a calorie and nutrition tracker for iPhone. This policy explains what Numero collects, why, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. The short version: your data is used to run the app for you, it is never sold, and it is never used for advertising.

Who we are

Numero is operated by Derek Gay (“Numero”, “we”, “us”). If you have any question about this policy or about your data, email support@getnumero.app.

What we collect

Account

You can create an account with an email address, or with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. When you use Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider (Apple lets you hide your real email; the relay address it gives us works fine). We use this to identify your account and to contact you about it.

Meals: photos and voice notes

When you log a meal, the photo you take and any voice note you record are uploaded to Numero’s servers, which run on Microsoft Azure in the United States, so that our AI can analyse the food and produce a nutrition estimate. Voice notes are transcribed by a third-party transcription provider acting on our behalf; the audio is sent for transcription and is not retained by that provider. The resulting text is stored with the meal so you can see what was said.

Nutrition logs

The meals you log, the items and quantities in them, the calorie and macronutrient estimates, and the corrections you make are stored in your Numero account so they follow you between devices and survive a reinstall.

Weight and goals

Weight entries you log, and the profile you set up to calculate targets (birthday, sex, height, weight, activity level and goal) are stored in your account. They exist purely to compute your daily targets and to show your trends.

Apple Health

With your permission, Numero reads dietary data and workout data from Apple Health, so that food logged elsewhere and energy you burned can be reflected in your day. If you turn the option on, Numero can also write meals, weight and workouts back to Apple Health. You control both directions in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, and in Numero under Settings → Movement & Health.

Health data has stricter rules, and we follow them. Data that comes from Apple Health is synced to your own Numero cloud account for backup and sync between your devices only. It is never sold, never used for advertising or marketing, never used to build profiles for any other purpose, and never shared with third parties for analytics. It is not sent to our analytics provider.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the app is used: which screens are opened, which features are used, where people get stuck, and crashes. This is usage-event data tied to a random identifier. We also use PostHog session replay to watch how the interface is used, with images and every text input masked before they leave your device, so replays show layout and taps, not your photos or what you typed. This helps us fix the app. It is not used for advertising.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive a receipt that tells us whether your subscription is active; we never see your payment details.

Support email

If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can help you and refer back to it.

How we use it

We do not run ads. We do not sell data. We do not share your data with third parties for their own purposes.

Who else sees it

We work with a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions:

Beyond these, we disclose data only if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Numero and its users.

Where it lives

Numero’s servers are in the United States. If you use Numero from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Uploaded voice audio is discarded once it has been transcribed and analysed. Analytics events are kept on a rolling basis and are not tied to your name.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your account and all of the data stored in Numero’s cloud, including meals, photos, logs, weight entries and profile. It cannot be undone. Anything Numero wrote to Apple Health stays in Apple Health, under your control, until you remove it there.

If you would rather we do it, or you no longer have the app installed, email support@getnumero.app from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.

Your choices

Children

Numero is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections and is stored on encrypted infrastructure. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password or one of the sign-in providers.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app. Continued use of Numero after a change means you accept the updated policy.
